What are must-sees and do’s around Cabo and La Paz for a couple of days?

Looking for recommendations on things to do and see in the Cabo-La Paz area.

I’m taking my mom on a cruise with Uncruise and hoping to find a few unique activities to enjoy together before or after the cruise, ideally something different from what we’ll be doing on the cruise. Here’s the cruise itinerary for reference: Cruise Itinerary.

She’s not into fancy spa days or high-end lounges like at O&O or Waldorf, as those make her uncomfortable. For me, though, I prefer unique, more refined experiences that aren’t just generic. So, I’m hoping to find something we’ll both enjoy.

So far, I’m thinking of:

  • Staying at an Airbnb near Flora Farms, maybe checking out their farm tour or a meal there.
  • Half-day trip to Todos Santos, perhaps for lunch and a little exploring. Any recommendations on what to see or do there?

We’ll be heading to La Paz for the cruise. If there’s anything around there worth checking out, I’m all ears. Also open to cooking classes, guided tours, ebike tours, or anything else fun and different.

Thanks for any advice!

I’d suggest a drive up to Todos Santos if you have time. It’s got a nice vibe and some interesting spots to check out!

What time of year are you going?

We’ll be there in early February.

In February, it’s an amazing time for sea life in that area! You could take a whale-watching tour from Cabo – it’s one of the few places where I’ve actually seen whales breaching. It’s really an incredible sight.

In La Paz, February is perfect for swimming with whale sharks. It’s a relaxed and enjoyable activity, not physically demanding, and a lot of fun.

Swimming with whale sharks sounds incredible! I’ll check with the cruise to see if it’s on the itinerary, and if not, that’s definitely going on the list. Thanks for the suggestion!

Awesome! You can either join a small group tour or even charter your own boat, which gives more flexibility if you want a personal experience. We did a private charter since we had our kids with us, and it allowed us more time with the whale sharks.

If you’re up for it, fly into SJD and do a one-way car rental to La Paz, stopping in Todos Santos for the night. You can drop off the car in La Paz, so it’s really convenient.

Todos Santos has a mix of accommodations, from resorts to smaller, in-town places. Since you’re looking for something unique but not overly luxurious, maybe try Villa Santa Cruz – it’s got tented cabins and is a beautiful spot. Right next door is Green Room, a great beach bar. Get there early to walk along the beach, and stay for the sunset if you can.

If you’re interested in food, here’s a solid write-up of Todos Santos restaurants from a travel writer: Todos Santos Food Guide.

Depending on the season, I’d recommend staying a night in La Paz and doing a whale shark tour. You could consider Baja Club Hotel, which is close to everything and a nice spot for drinks too. Even just walking along the Malecon in La Paz is worth it, as there’s a lot to see.

Thanks! We’re planning to arrive in early February. Any ideas on rental car options? I’d love a company that can deliver and pick up the car at the cruise terminal if possible.

It’s less about cost and more about making my mom feel comfortable. She’s not a fan of pretentious resorts, but I’d like something special for both of us. Think unique rather than luxurious – I prefer Amans over Ritz if that makes sense.

Would you suggest staying a night in Todos Santos or doing a day trip? I hear it’s a small town, so maybe we’d have time for Flora Farms and Todos in one go?

Not sure on car rental delivery, but you could look into a one-way rental to La Paz, or get a driver for part of the trip.

As for Flora Farms, it’s a lovely spot with a great atmosphere. If you decide to stay near Flora Farms, keep in mind it’s only a short drive from San Jose del Cabo, so it might feel remote unless you’re staying right on their property.

I personally love Todos Santos. It’s got a farm-to-table vibe with cool architecture and a big, dramatic beach. If you stay overnight, you’ll get a more local experience versus the busier daytime crowds. If you go with an Airbnb near Flora Farms, maybe just do Todos as a day trip.

Based on what you’re saying about you and your mom’s preferences, I’d suggest an overnight in Todos. Villa Santa Cruz is a good choice – grab a drink at Green Room, then head back to Villa Santa Cruz for the night. Hope that helps!

This is super helpful, thank you! I’ll likely reach out with a few more questions if that’s alright.

Do you know of any cooking classes or farm tours near Cabo or along the way to Todos Santos? I’m planning to land at CSL around 1 PM and was thinking of doing an activity like that before heading to Villa Santa Cruz.

If you want a quick stop for supplies, Agricole is right on the road into Todos Santos. They’ve got a market with their own farm products and imported goodies. Good spot for stocking up on snacks!

In Todos, consider doing a taco tour. I can’t remember the guide I used, but Villa Santa Cruz can arrange one. There’s also Paradero nearby, which does farm tours and cooking classes, though it might not be your mom’s style as it’s more modern and trendy. Worth checking out, though!
