What do you always check before planning a fancy holiday?

What are the top 3 things you look up online when planning a fancy holiday? And what’s the 1 thing you wish you could easily find out before booking but usually can’t?

Here’s what I focus on:

  1. Local tips for the best places to eat.
  2. Which hotels have the best service.
  3. Where to grab amazing coffee.

What I’d love to know but always struggle with: Unique info about the local culture.

Pretty much the same as you:

  1. Best hotels in the area—TripAdvisor reviews are my go-to.
  2. Weather—how hot it’ll be and if there’s any chance of rain (I’m from the UK, so avoiding rain is a big deal).
  3. Food—finding the best spots for authentic local cuisine.

Haha, same here—checking the weather is always a top priority! I don’t really use TripAdvisor much though; I stick to Google reviews. Maybe I should give it a shot?

For me, it’s all about these three things: best hotels, top food spots, and the must-visit attractions or experiences.

I skip the travel websites and go straight to blogs. Social media is great for finding locals who can give real insights. I also make an effort to learn local customs or a few phrases—it can really make a difference. Oh, and Google Earth/street view is a must to get a feel for the vibe before I go.

That’s a brilliant idea! I never thought of using social media to connect with locals before a trip.
