What makes a luxury tour stand out for you

Must-haves:

  1. Private driver for airport transfers
  2. Local guide who knows the area and gets us into the best restaurants
  3. I prefer someone who plans the itinerary but can also adjust if we find something cool along the way
  4. We love staying in suites at smaller, more intimate hotels.
Basically, we want to enjoy our trip without worrying about the details.

I 100% agree with all of this.

It really depends on the type of trip.

True, but let’s say we’re talking about a cultural tour of Italy or France?

Definitely private tours and restaurants. If you’re out all day, it’s worth it.

Time is super important to me and my family. On what we thought was a luxury tour in Costa Rica, they took us to a coffee farm, but none of us were interested. It would have been better if they told us upfront, like: ‘Hey, it’s a 40-minute drive to the coffee tour. If you’re into it, great. If not, we can go straight to the resort and you can relax in the hot tub.’ I feel like people don’t always realize how much we value our time versus just trying to get the most out of the experience. I’d rather visit one or two places deeply instead of hopping around all day.

Completely agree. That’s why I always go with a private guide – it lets you cut things short if you’re not enjoying them.

I just want restaurant recommendations, great amenities, and someone to handle the scheduling of my activities. I want to focus on enjoying the trip, not organizing it.
