And what are some things that have really made your trips feel extra special?
We went with More in South Africa. When I think of luxury, I’m picturing super unique experiences and a personal touch that you just don’t get everywhere.
Like for our honeymoon, we stayed at Babylonstoren in the Cape wine region. They surprised us with a photographer to capture some honeymoon photos.
Some other things I loved:
- No tipping. We paid a set fee that went directly to the staff.
- A personal butler who unpacked and packed our bags at each stop (and moved them to our next destination).
- At each new place, there were snacks, wine, and local beers waiting for us.
That sounds awesome. I always think having a photographer helps you make memories that are way better than any selfie could.
Curious, was the no-tipping setup a nice surprise, or would you look for that in the future?
Do you have a link for them? I searched but couldn’t find anything. Appreciate any help!
Are you asking for yourself, or is this for someone else?
It’s mostly for my own interest. I like learning what travelers who enjoy luxury care about and what they find valuable.
I run a small private luxury tour company, so any info you share helps me design better experiences for clients.
As a travel advisor, I get feedback that my clients love the tailored suggestions and the personal touch they receive. Luxury can mean different things to different people. Getting to know their style, needs, and preferences is how I help match them with the right trips.
We used Travel Beyond for a 10-day South Africa trip. They handled everything except flights to Cape Town. They met us at the plane door at each airport, arranged all transport, upgraded us at the hotels, shared our preferences with them, and checked in with us at every step. The fee included all the tips, too. It was one of our best trips ever!
We just launched a new app called ‘Stellar: Lifestyle Marketplace’ where people can buy and sell exclusive reservations like hotels, flights, or restaurants. Not just another app charging for reservations, this is for when you need to cancel and can’t get a refund. Sellers can list their bookings and maybe get back some money.
We’re new, but our team has experience in luxury hospitality, and we hope to be the go-to for those last-minute changes. DM me if you want more info, or check out the app!
Singita for safari. They’re simply the best!
