Looking for luxury spots far from the usual places… any ideas?

Do you think it’s possible to find true luxury away from the big cities? I’d love to hear your suggestions for unique and less-known places.

If you mean outside major cities, then Mongolia, Bhutan, Clayoquot Sound, and Antarctica come to mind. There’s also a lodge in New Mexico focused on hunting and fishing. For something a bit more active, we had an amazing time at a ski chalet that offered heli and cat skiing.

How was Mongolia? That sounds like such a unique destination.

It was incredible. I’d love to go back for the golden eagle festival—it’s truly one of a kind.

Raja Ampat on a chartered phinisi or yacht. It’s remote and breathtaking.

This one’s high on my list! My travel agent suggested it a few months back, and I’ve been dreaming about it since.

I just looked this up, and wow, it looks incredible.

Technically, Amans are remote and luxurious. They’re worth considering.

I absolutely love Amans. They’re always such a treat.

Borneo. It’s one of the most biodiverse places on the planet, and there are private island resorts nearby that are stunning.

Bisate Lodge in Rwanda was amazing. It’s crazy to find such luxury in the middle of the jungle surrounded by gorillas. Also, Titilaka in Peru was a pleasant surprise—super remote, high up in the Andes, and so peaceful.

Indonesia is incredible for this kind of experience. There’s so much to see.

Indonesia seems to tick all the boxes for me right now.

Some great options:

  • NIHI Sumba in Indonesia
  • The Brando in Tetiaroa (French Polynesia)
  • Nayara Alto Atacama in Chile (combine it with Nayara Hangaroa on Easter Island)
  • Nayara Bocas del Toro in Panama
  • Amanpulo in the Philippines (a private island)
  • Six Senses Zighy Bay in Oman (one of my all-time favorites)

Amangiri is the obvious choice if you’re looking for luxury and seclusion.

Origins in Costa Rica is amazing. It’s right in the jungle, the staff are so kind, and the food is next level. I felt incomplete when I left—it’s that good.

NIHI Sumba is incredible, and they’re opening another location in Costa Rica! Brush Creek in Wyoming is also worth checking out for something different.

I’d say Baku, Azerbaijan. I’m heading there next week, and I’ll share a video after. It looks like a mix of Dubai with super affordable prices!

I’d love to see that video. Keep us updated!

I’ll share the link here once it’s done. Stay tuned!
