Hi everyone! I’m looking for a modern wellness resort that offers great food and fitness programs. Has anyone been on a wellness retreat that really impressed you? Would love to hear your thoughts and recommendations!
Miraval Arizona is amazing!
Thanks! How long would you recommend staying there?
I stayed for about 4 days and it was fantastic. You could stay longer, but it is pretty expensive. The hikes and cooking classes were really enjoyable, and it’s close to Tucson if you want to check out the city too.

Ananda in the Himalayas
Golden Door near San Diego
Palm Heights in Cayman is my new favorite. Lanserhof in Germany is great too. Sha Wellness in Mexico is another solid pick.
Skyterra wellness retreat
#1 is Rythmia in Costa Rica
Hi! I love a good wellness resort too. When are you planning to go and what’s your budget like? There are so many amazing places in the US, the Caribbean, and Europe. Let me know if you have a rough idea of what you’re looking for!
I’m flexible on location but trying to keep the stay under $5000. Thanks so much!
I actually just did a post on my IG featuring some great spa resorts! Based on your budget, here are a few places that might work:
- Miraval Resorts - Austin, Arizona, or Berkshires
- Castle Hot Springs in Arizona
- Palmaia House of Aia in Mexico
- Chable Yucatan in Mexico
- COMO Shambhala in Ubud
- Six Senses Koh Samui
- Hacienda AltaGracia, Auberge in Costa Rica
- Civana Wellness Resort in Arizona
If you can’t tell, I’m a huge fan of Arizona! Feel free to reach out if you need more details or help planning!
Awesome, thanks! A few of these showed up in my initial search too.
Quick follow-up! Any thoughts on Civana or Miraval in July? I know Phoenix can be really hot at that time, but those two are at the top of our list.
I actually love the heat! I lived in Arizona in my 20s and really got used to it (not sure why I’m back in Michigan now, haha). As long as you’re okay with feeling like you’re stepping into an oven every time you go outside, you’ll be fine! Miraval Tucson is stunning, and they have a great pool, though keep in mind that pools in Arizona during the summer are more like hot tubs! They’re also hosting a culinary month in July, which is awesome if you’re into that. I think Miraval has a better variety of activities, so I’d recommend that between the two. Civana is great too, but it’s more focused on the area’s shopping and dining scene if that’s something you’re after. By the way, booking through a Hyatt Prive Travel Agent will get you some perks like resort credits, daily breakfast, and room upgrades if available. Civana doesn’t offer those extras.
Here are some off-the-beaten-path wellness-focused places that aren’t your typical resorts, but still very special: Mii Amo in Sedona, Arizona; Ojo Caliente in Taos, New Mexico; Rancho Santa Fe in Nicaragua; The Farm at San Benito in the Philippines; Rosewood San Miguel in Mexico; Entre Cielos in Mendoza, Argentina; Le Clos de Sens in Annecy, France; Baylonstoren in Cape Town, South Africa; Oliver’s Camp in Tarangire, Tanzania. Hope that helps!
