What little details make an island truly luxury? Things that just blow your mind

What makes an island feel like true luxury? What are the little touches that take it from good to incredible? I’m thinking about things that make you say ‘wow, this is something special.’

Jeeps with park logos on them. Barbasol cans with hiding spots.

Depends on the area. In the Pacific, it’s not common to have full-time staff. But in East Asia, it’s pretty normal to have your own designated staff who you can message on WhatsApp or call anytime. Having all-inclusive spa treatments and automatic booking for them is a big plus. You don’t want to miss out just because you can’t wake up early. Also, a 24/7 helpdesk is a must – imagine if you need something after 6 pm and housekeeping is already gone. No one wants to deal with dirty sheets until the morning. Another nice touch is having famous DJs play at the parties instead of just a playlist. And how about getting your laundry done the same day? Maybe even faster if it’s just ironing. Also, having event schedules available in advance so you can book your spot would be a game changer.

Being able to arrive and depart via private boat, seaplane, or helicopter is a must. For example, at the new One and Only Resort on Kea Island, you get to arrive by speedboat or helicopter directly to the hotel.

We arrived by speedboat at a resort in Koh Phangan. There was no pier, so we jumped barefoot into the water with the team carrying our luggage overhead. The GM and the team gave us a welcome on the beach. It was my favorite arrival ever.
